The Spiral Path: Navigate Your Next Cycle

Gretchen Wood Lakshmi • August 10, 2025

There are moments in life when the air feels charged, as if the entire Universe is holding its breath.

Right now is one of those moments.

Astrologers talk about portals, alignments, and cosmic gateways, like the Lion’s Gate Portal that’s been open and expanded these past days.

And while the language and interpretations vary, the essence is the same: there are seasons in life when the energy around us shifts, giving us a rare opportunity to step into a new level of being.

I like to think of it as a spiral.

We’re always moving, never truly stuck, but the direction of our movement matters.

We can spiral upward toward greater awareness, connection, and purpose… or we can spiral downward into fear, stagnation, and unconscious repetition of the past.

Sometimes, we repeat the same circle of the spiral because we still have something to learn. And that’s not a failure, it’s an invitation to integrate the lesson so we can rise when we’re ready.

Right now, the collective is standing at a threshold. We each have the choice:

  • Spiral upward by letting go of what weighs us down, even if it’s comfortable.
  • Stay in the current loop to master the lessons at this level.
  • Spiral downward — usually unconsciously, when we resist growth or refuse to see what’s asking to be acknowledged.

Spiraling upward is not about “leveling up” for the sake of achievement, like checking boxes on a cosmic to-do list.

It’s not about racing ahead or proving our worth to ourselves or anyone else. It’s about readiness, a deep, quiet alignment within us that says:

"I’m willing to let go of what no longer serves me, even if part of me still clings to its familiarity."

Readiness to embrace the unknown and trust that what’s ahead will meet us with the same love and challenges we need for our growth.

Sometimes, this means releasing patterns we’ve carried for decades:

  • the ways we protect ourselves
  • the masks we wear
  • the stories we tell ourselves and others about who we are...

Other times, it’s about loosening our grip on beliefs we once swore were unshakable, but now might feel too small to hold our growing soul.

And yes, it can also mean parting ways with certain relationships (even the ones we love deeply) when the path ahead calls us to walk in a different direction.

Readiness also means
embracing the unknown, not as a threat but as a living invitation. It’s choosing to trust that what lies ahead will meet us with both the love we crave and the challenges we need to grow.

Because the truth is:

Growth is rarely gentle, but it is always generous.

This is the quiet courage of the upward spiral: to stand on the edge of the familiar and still take that first step into the uncharted, knowing that in the act of moving forward, we are already becoming more of who we were always meant to be.

So, if you feel the pull right now, that subtle but persistent whisper that you're meant for more, pause and ask yourself:

What do I need to lay down so I can rise?
What truth do I have to admit so I can step forward without the weight of pretending?

You might be questioning some part of who you are and what you want to do right now, and maybe that means the energy of this time is calling you to change...

To be reborn (again), to clear the space for what comes next, for what is waiting for you on the other side.

This is your moment. Choose your direction with awareness.

Pain and discomfort are two different things and they need to be addressed in different ways.
